Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Fairlead. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to do so, and “you” means that business.
What Fairlead is
Fairlead provides a business assistant that can read and summarise the email and calendar of an account you connect, work with spreadsheets you link to it, read documents you send it or that arrive attached to your mail, prepare drafts, send messages when you ask it to, and run scheduled routines you configure. To answer some questions it writes and runs short pieces of code on our servers, under the restrictions set out in our Privacy Policy. We provide Fairlead as an online service and may improve or change how it works over time.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for what is done under your account. Tell us promptly at support@fairlead.uk if you believe someone else has gained access to it. Accounts are for the business they are issued to; do not share one account across unrelated businesses.
Connected accounts and permissions
You decide which email, calendar or file account to connect, and you can disconnect it at any time from the Permissions page. You choose which spreadsheets the assistant may open, and you can unlink one at any time on the same page. You confirm that you are entitled to give Fairlead access to the account you connect, and that doing so does not breach any obligation you owe to your employer, your clients, or anyone else. We will only use that access for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
If you switch on WhatsApp updates, your assistant becomes reachable on WhatsApp in both directions, and messages travel through WhatsApp’s own service on Meta’s terms as well as these. Anyone who can send messages from the number you confirm can talk to your assistant, so treat that number as you would your sign-in. You can switch it off at any time.
The assistant can be wrong — review before it goes out
Fairlead is powered by AI models, and those models make mistakes: they can misread a message, misread a figure on a scanned or photographed document, miss something important, or word a reply badly. Drafts are left for you to review precisely for that reason. You remain responsible for anything sent from your mailbox, anything put in your calendar and anything written into your spreadsheets, including where the assistant prepared it. Do not rely on Fairlead as your only safeguard for anything time-critical, legally significant, or financially material, and do not use it to give professional advice you have not checked.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Fairlead to:
- send unsolicited bulk email, or anything unlawful, harassing or deceptive;
- access a mailbox, calendar or file you are not authorised to access;
- break, probe or circumvent the security of the service, or attempt to reach another customer’s data;
- resell or provide the service to a third party as if it were your own, without our written agreement.
We may suspend an account that is being used this way, or that is putting the service or other customers at risk, and will tell you why.
Your data
Your business data — your messages, your calendar, your spreadsheets, your conversations with the assistant and the settings you configure — remains yours. We process it to provide the service, as set out in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Fees
Where a fee applies, it is the one agreed with you in writing when your workspace was set up. We will give you reasonable notice in advance of any change to it.
Availability and support
We work to keep Fairlead available and reliable, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, upstream provider outages and faults happen. Support is by email at support@fairlead.uk, or through the Contact page inside the app.
Ending it
You can stop using Fairlead at any time and ask us to close your workspace. We may end or suspend the service on reasonable notice, or immediately if these terms are seriously breached. When your workspace closes we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. Fairlead is provided to businesses, and the statutory rights of consumers do not apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Fairlead after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
